I offer grief and loss therapy and treatment to anyone in the Palm Beach County area, including Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. Loss is a fact of life. It can be immobilizing. You have experienced someone or something very dear to you. As you embrace all this meant, lets unravel the trauma of this profound loss and get you reengaged in life!
Losing someone or something you love can be a gut wrenching experience. You might experience a variety of overwhelming emotions leaving you to feel it will never get any better. These emotions however, are a normal reaction to your loss. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, but when these feelings just don’t seem to ease with time, it may be time to seek professional help.
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross identified 5 stages of grief. They are:
- Denial: “No, this can’t be happening to me.”
- Anger: “Why is this happening to me? Who can I blame?”
- Bargaining: “If you let this not happen, in return I will _________.”
- Depression: “I’m way too sad to do anything.”
- Acceptance: “I’m okay and at peace with this loss.”
These steps may not be experienced in order since every person has their own unique way of healing. Loss also triggers all past losses in our lives so for example a divorce, a move and relocation from a beloved home, loss of other loved ones, etc., can make the grieving process more complicated.
